Antique brass inkwell in a flowing Art Nouveau design, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. Made from cast brass with soft organic curves and floral detailing across the tray, it would originally have held a small glass insert inside the lidded well for ink.
The hinged lid opens smoothly and features a raised shell or rosette motif. The tray beneath is shaped to rest dip pens or quills and protect the writing surface beneath. Natural patina, verdigris and age-related marks are present, giving it a timeworn, authentic finish.
A charming decorative writing desk piece for collectors of antique stationery, Art Nouveau design or period office accessories.
