Antique blue and white transferware sauce tureen with lid, dating to the 19th century. Decorated in the classic willow pattern style with pagodas, bridges, and trees, this piece has side handles and a domed lid with knop handle. The cut-out on the lid is designed to hold a serving ladle, making it ideal for serving gravy or sauces at the table.

This tureen shows its age with crazing, some staining, and a small chip to the rim, but remains a decorative and characterful piece of early tableware.

Please note: as with most 19th-century ceramics, the glaze may contain lead and it is therefore sold as a display piece only.
