A beautifully hand-carved wooden scoop, painted in the traditional Scandinavian folk art style, most likely Norwegian. The black background is adorned with delicate rosemaling-style florals, birds, and spiral details in soft blues, reds and golds. The scalloped gold edging and carved flower on the handle add a lovely rustic touch.
This mid-century piece was likely made as a decorative item rather than a functional scoop. It makes a striking wall hanging or could even be used as a rustic planter for dried flowers or succulents.
