This is a late 19th century solid copper jug made by J.S & S (Joseph Sankey & Sons), a respected English metalware maker known for their high-quality hand-worked copper pieces. It has a strong Arts and Crafts influence, with simple, honest construction and a functional tapered silhouette.

The jug is handmade with classic period details: a visible seam running down the back, a rolled spout and a riveted handle plate, all showing the traditional workshop techniques used in Sankey’s earlier copper ranges. The underside is stamped J.S & S Solid Copper along with a simple “2”, likely marking its size within their series of utilitarian copper jugs.

Measuring 22 x 14 x 12cm, it’s a beautifully proportioned piece that works perfectly for styling on shelves, sideboards or as a small flower vessel. The surface shows natural patina, verdigris and gentle wear expected from a late 19th century copper item, giving it authentic age and character.

A lovely hand-worked copper jug with a sought-after J.S & S mark and genuine late 19th century charm.
