Mid-century hand-carved German wooden bottle stopper with a rustic figural design. The character is a bearded man with rosy cheeks and a red waistcoat, carved in the Black Forest folk style.

This stopper was originally made with a moving head mechanism. The head would have tilted when the lever and inner parts were intact. The mechanism is now missing, leaving a hollow head and slot at the back, but the figure remains an appealing display piece.

Fitted with a natural cork base, which shows wear and age. The carving retains painted detail with patina and surface wear consistent with mid-20th century use.

Measures approx. 10cm tall x 4cm wide x 4cm deep.

A quirky and collectable example of mid-century German barware, ideal for collectors of bottle stoppers, spirit pourers, novelty bar accessories and folk art carvings.
