This is a vintage Peterson Kapet 65 briar pipe with a square shank and panel-style shaping, one of the more distinctive Kapet forms. The Kapet line is one of Peterson’s long-running ranges, known for solid Irish briar, classic shaping and that traditional mid-century look.
This example has an attractive grain and a really characterful silhouette. It has been well-used, so there’s a heavy carbon build-up inside the bowl, rim darkening, and oxidation and wear to the stem and bit. The briar itself is sound and has plenty of life in it, making it a great candidate for anyone who enjoys restoring older Peterson pipes or adding a classic mid-century Irish briar to their collection.
A lovely example of the Kapet line with that sought-after square-shank 65 shape.
