Original WW2 era Matthews’ Fullers Earth Cream tin by Rouse Bros. (London) Ltd., W.1 – Manufacturing Chemists. A beautifully designed lithographed tin with floral border detail and bold advertising text. The lid reads “Removes Roughness Redness and Chapping – Keeps the Skin Soft White and Smooth in Summer and Winter in All Climates”.

The tin still retains its original cream contents, making it a rare survivor. Both the inner lid and tin base carry extensive instructions and claims, recommending the cream for everything from blemishes and sunburn to chilblains and eczema – a fascinating glimpse into early 20th-century skincare marketing.

Period: WW2, circa 1940s

Maker: Rouse Bros., London
