A 19th century brass candle wick trimmer, sometimes known as wick scissors or snuffers. Designed to trim candle wicks and catch the burnt ends in the box compartment, this tool was an essential part of domestic lighting before the advent of self-snuffing candles and electric light.
The piece features scissor handles, a pointed leg, and two small feet for resting—though one foot is now missing. The hinged box opens smoothly and shows signs of use inside, consistent with age.
Dimensions: 15 x 5.5 x 3 cm
Condition: In good antique condition with expected age-related wear. One foot is missing, which does not affect its use as a display or collector’s piece.
A useful addition to any antique lighting collection or as a decorative display item.
