This is a Victorian brass trivet in the Arts & Crafts style, with a beautifully pierced round top and three turned legs. It’s a classic late-19th-century hearth piece, used for supporting kettles or pans beside the fire. The geometric openwork design and hand-finished casting are typical of the Arts & Crafts movement, where simple forms, honest materials and traditional craftsmanship were valued over mass production.
The underside shows the kind of natural oxidation and fire-side wear expected from authentic Victorian brass. The pierced top, with its repeating lozenge and scrollwork pattern, has the subtle irregularities that come from hand-cleaning and finishing, giving the piece real depth and character.
Height 12 cm, diameter 18.5 cm.
Today it works beautifully as a plant stand or display riser, adding height and genuine antique charm to a shelf, sideboard or windowsill.
In antique condition with natural patina, age marks and surface wear consistent with Victorian Arts & Crafts brasswork.
