A vintage English hand-beaten pewter jug by W & Co (Wentworth & Co), part of the Homeland range and dating to circa 1930, firmly within the Art Deco period. The design features a strong, sculptural form with a gently flared spout, hinged lid with ball finial, and a pierced internal strainer behind the spout, originally intended to strain tea leaves or coffee grounds while pouring.
The hammered pewter surface gives the piece depth and texture, a hallmark of quality English pewter from this era, while the curved wooden handle adds warmth and contrast. The base is stamped “W & Co English Pewter Hand Beaten Homeland 530”, confirming both maker and pattern.
The pewter has developed a soft, characterful patina over time, with light surface wear and gentle marks consistent with age and use. This patina highlights the hand-beaten finish and clearly shows the piece’s age rather than detracting from it.
A striking Art Deco interior piece, ideal as a decorative jug, shelf display, or sideboard accent, and a great example of early 20th-century English metalwork.
