A beautifully detailed early 20th century silver-plated compact with an ornate Art Nouveau floral design. The lid features flowing foliage, textured detailing and a symmetrical engraved motif that feels very true to the Art Nouveau period.
The compact carries the small stamped word FOREIGN, an export mark used from the early 1900s to around the 1930s on imported goods made for the UK market. This supports its age and origin as an early 20th century piece. Inside is the original reflective insert, likely an early plastic or foil-backed mirror, which predates the standard glass mirrors seen in later mid-century compacts.
The silver plating shows gentle age and character, with light wear and surface patina inside and out, entirely expected for a piece of this era. It remains decorative, well-made and full of early charm. Ideal for collectors of Art Nouveau metalwork, early vanity items or anyone who enjoys small, beautifully crafted antique treasures.
