A rare early 20th century pair of men’s ice skates made by Schaeffer Sports of Lausanne, Switzerland. These are a genuine period example with the original leather boots, wooden blade mounts, brass plates and stamped Schaeffer Sports blades. The construction, lining and mounting plates all date these confidently to around 1915–1925.
The boots are a thick brown leather with herringbone interior lining, hand-peened rivets and stacked leather heels. One boot retains its original flat woven lace and the other lace is missing, so I’ve kept them exactly as found for authenticity. The original leather blade guards are still present, hand stitched and numbered, which is rarely seen now.
Condition is consistent with age. The leather has aged naturally, the blades show expected wear, and everything remains solid and displayable. These would suit collectors of early winter sports equipment, period interiors, or anyone looking for an authentic decorative piece with genuine history behind it.
A beautifully made and fully original set, ideal for display or for adding character to a winter themed space.
