This vintage miniature binnacle compass is a commemorative piece for the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Daring (D05). The design features a fluted wooden pedestal mounted on a circular base, replicating a full-scale ship’s binnacle. It is fitted with solid brass components, including a removable brass hood and two navigational "Kelvin’s Spheres" in red and green, which served as magnetic correctors on the original vessel.

A central brass plaque is fixed to the base, engraved with "H.M.S. DARING 1952 – 1971," marking the ship’s years of service. Beneath the removable hood sits a functional 3cm diameter compass marked "Germany." The item is in good vintage condition, showing a natural aged patina to the brass and wood consistent with its history. The base is finished with green felt to protect furniture surfaces.
