Large antique brass elephant claw bell with hand-etched Indian floral decoration. Traditionally used on ceremonial elephants, this style of bell features the distinctive open slotted base designed to let sound travel clearly while preventing mud from muffling the tone.
The bell is fully functional and rings well, with the original metal clapper still in place. The surface shows aged patina, worn red and gold enamel and signs of use, all consistent with an early to mid 20th century example.
