This is a large antique brass slippers box, crafted with heavy sheet brass over a solid wooden interior. The lid features raised ‘SLIPPERS’ lettering and original riveted detailing, giving it a strong hand-finished, traditional character.
The brass has developed a rich, mottled patina over time with natural marks and age-related wear, and the wood inside shows the expected use for a piece of this age. It is a substantial and weighty item at 4.1kg, with sturdy original hinges and a good, solid feel throughout.
I have not polished it in case the buyer prefers a more rustic look, however I have conditoned and protected the wood.
Ideal now as a unique storage chest for slippers, scarves, accessories, keepsakes, craft supplies or even as a decorative fireside box. Its size and heavy construction make it a real statement piece for any interior with antique or character styling.
