A decorative pair of antique cast brass candlesticks dating to around c1890. Designed in the Art Nouveau style, each candlestick is formed as a Scottish thistle, with serrated leaves rising up the stem and a candle cup shaped as the thistle flower head. The bases are richly decorated with berries and foliage, a naturalistic design typical of the Art Nouveau period.
Solid brass with fine casting detail, these candlesticks display a beautiful patina built up over more than a century. A striking pair that captures both the naturalistic elegance of Art Nouveau and the enduring symbolism of the Scottish thistle.
