This is an original c1940s Primrose League member badge, made by W.O. Lewis of Birmingham. It is crafted in gilt metal with soft yellow vitreous enamel and features the characteristic primrose emblem with a raised letter P to the centre. The reverse carries the British Registered Design number R233531 along with the maker’s mark W.O. Lewis Birm’m, confirming its authenticity.
The Primrose League was a major political organisation active throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with badges issued to official members and supporters. This example dates from the Home Front period and retains its original pin-back fastening.
A compact piece of British political and social history, ideal for collectors of enamel badges, WW2-era Home Front material, or Birmingham Jewellery Quarter makers.
