This is an antique and rare “Midget Coinbox” by J.W. & Co, made in England during the 1930s. It was designed to hold forty pre-decimal 3d pieces and features the original markings: For Forty 3D Pieces, Best Nickel Plated, Made in England, plus the maker’s stamp “PATENT” with a shield containing “J.W.” (James Walker & Co). The slim nickel‐plated tube houses a spring mechanism that still pushes the coins upward, making it a fine example of early cash-handling tools.

The body shows period wear consistent with daily use, and the nickel plating has the mellow patina you'd expect of a piece from this era. Collectors of transport memorabilia, pre-decimal money tools or early 20th-century British metal-goods will find it especially appealing. A strong decorative item too for vintage shop display or coin-room shelving.
