A very rare mid century Daymaster brass banjo barometer and thermometer, marked Real Brass – Made in England. Daymaster produced a range of British home weather instruments during the mid 20th century, and this example has the classic turned finials, engraved floral detail and elegant shaped form typical of their designs.
The barometer responds when tapped and shows a small movement with a gentle pressure-change test, indicating the internal mechanism is active. It has not been fully tested for accuracy, so it is offered as a decorative vintage piece. The thermometer is present but has a separation in the spirit column, a common age-related issue. The glass over the barometer dial is slightly frosted, though the readings and decorative scrollwork can still be seen.
Made from solid brass with natural mid century patina. Measures approx. 31 x 4 x 10cm and weighs 667g. A charming British decorative weather instrument with great vintage character.
