A beautiful early Royal Doulton plate from the Willow Pattern story series, titled ‘Here They Lived Happily’. Made around the 1920s, this piece is part of the coloured narrative range that illustrates scenes from the classic willow legend. The plate features a turquoise border with raised detailing and a brightly enamelled central design showing the lovers in the garden.

The colours remain vibrant and clear, and the plate displays very well. There are no chips or cracks, only age-related crazing typical for Royal Doulton wares of this period. The backstamp and impressed marks are consistent with early 20th-century production.

Diameter: 27 cm

Not many of these were produced and production ran from 1920 - WWII, making this a very rare Royal Doulton story plate with strong display appeal and a collectable colourway. Suitable for collectors of Willow Pattern history, narrative ceramics or early Royal Doulton designs.
