Antique Victorian brass pitch pipe / tuning whistle with a rotating note selector and untouched original patina. Likely mid–19th century (c.1850–1880), used for tuning instruments, choirs or hymns. The disc is stamped with musical notes, and the interior still contains the reed-style mechanism.
The surface shows aged verdigris and wear consistent with its age. It has not been polished or cleaned to preserve the history, patina and engraving. Due to the patina, I cannot confidently attribute it to a particular maker, although it follows the style of Eardley and similar Victorian examples.
