An antique Japanese porcelain tea cup and saucer, hand painted with a colourful rooster perched on a flowering branch. The set is marked Foreign to the base, a mark used on export ceramics in the early 20th century.
The design shows strong Japanese influence, with raised enamel detail on the blossom flowers and fine gilt touches. Roosters are a popular symbolic motif, often representing prosperity and good fortune.
The cup measures 6 x 9.5 x 7cm, and the saucer is 12.5cm in diameter. In good condition overall with some age-related wear and crazing consistent with its age, which adds character to the piece.
A collectible display set for lovers of antique Japanese porcelain and unique hand painted tableware.
