A vintage Butch hand puppet – the cheeky brown dog from The Sooty Show, known as Sweep’s mischievous friend and occasional rival. This version was made in England by Chad Valley / Chiltern Hygienic Toys, dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s.
Made from soft brown plush with a felt nose, collar and teeth, and finished with stitched detailing and plastic eyes. The original blue-and-white Chad Valley Chiltern Hygienic Toys label is still present and readable.
Butch is in good vintage condition with gentle signs of age and wear. The fabric has natural flattening from handling but remains in solid condition overall. He hasn’t been washed to preserve his original vintage character, leaving the choice to the new owner.
A nostalgic collectable for fans of The Sooty Show and a wonderful addition to any vintage puppet or British TV memorabilia collection.
