A decorative Chinese porcelain fish bowl jardiniere Circa 1940 richly adorned with peacock and crane motifs amongst flowering branches.
The exterior displays vibrant cobalt blue and iron red enamel work with gilt accenting, framed by geometric panel borders, which are art deco inspired. The interior is finished with painted goldfish, traditionally symbolising prosperity and harmony.
Of pleasing proportion and substantial weight, the bowl presents as an eye-catching statement piece, well suited as a planter, orchid bowl or decorative centrepiece.
Condition
Surface wear to the enamel is present, cosmetic in nature and consistent with age and handling. No chips, cracks or crazing observed. The base shows expected shelf wear.
